About PACT.
Australian parents move tens of billions of dollars a year into their children's homes — enough to rank the “Bank of Mum & Dad” among the country's biggest lenders. Almost all of it moves on a handshake.
A handshake is fine until it isn't: a relationship ends, a pension is assessed, a memory fades, an estate is divided. At that point the difference between a documented loan and an undocumented one can be the difference between money that comes back and money that doesn't. PACT exists to make documenting it so easy that families actually do it — before it matters, not after.
What PACT is — and deliberately isn't
PACT is a document drafting and evidence platform. Three lines we never cross, by design:
- Not a lender. The money moves between family members, directly. PACT never holds, moves, or lends a cent.
- Not advice. PACT explains concepts in plain English and records your decisions. It never tells you what you should do — and where your answers raise questions that deserve a professional, it says so and refers the matter to an independent panel law practice.
- Not a template. Your answers deterministically assemble a formal agreement from a versioned clause library — the same answers produce the same document, every time — which the parties then sign together.
Built as evidence, not paperwork
A family loan document earns its keep years after signing. Every PACT agreement is versioned and fingerprinted (SHA-256), every signature is recorded with its time and place, and the record of the loan — including repayments — is kept tamper-evident in Australian (Sydney) infrastructure. If the arrangement is ever questioned, the evidence is simply there.
